Biodiversity & Conservation efforts

BlackRobin Group was born between the shores of South East Australia and New Zealand, where we enjoyed surfing the cold water and the swell of the Tasman Sea. In downtimes, we refined our investment philosophy based on Karl Popper's 'The Open Society' that he wrote in NZ during WWII. We also discovered the incredible local biodiversity and wildlife ecosystems. We came across, further East on the Chatham Islands, an extraordinary little bird: the black robin, saved from extinction with the help of only five remaining birds.

That rare story of survival and resilience raised our awareness of the importance of biodiversity and rich, diverse ecosystems. So, we decided to use the name Black Robin. We support the efforts led by agencies and foundations to protect wild birds and their habitats:  

• Wildlife sanctuary Zealandia in Wellington, an outstanding ecosanctuary founded by visionary Jim Lynch with Tieke, Kaka, Takahe, Hihi, Kiwis, Tuis, North Island Robins, Bellbirds, Kakariki and Titipunamu among other NZ native birds; 
• The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSBP) in the UK and,
• BirdWatch Ireland.
